Mithula Perera joined Ananda S. Liyanapathiranage on March 20 2005 in Sri Lanka. We met the Minister after signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Sri Lanka and Minnesota Sri Lanka Friendship Foundation. UDA will provide the land to to build 50 houses and the community center for tsunami survivors and also UDA will build the road, supply water and the power to the houses and the community center March 21 2005 is a landmark in the history of MnSLFF. The process we had to follow and the agony we went through to get land was overwhelming. Having enough experience working in the Sri Lankan bureaucracy and with the understanding of the tsunami devastation and its aftermath we had lot of patience and sympathy. It was very hard for us to manage the day to day project activities in Sri Lanka we being 14,000 miles away. Becky and Jayani Adikarama was very instrumental in getting the land.
