to recognize the special efforts of Gamini and Vasithi Iddawela and Gihan
and Nimmi Ratnayake for taking the initiative and thank all those who
participated in the fund raiser events held down under and made it all
possible. We look forward to your continued participation and support for
the successful completion of the project.
The first small step of raising funds in Sydney, to complement the effort
in Minnesota, kicked off 29th of May, and raised $1,300 for the cause. The
guests were treated to several Sri Lankan culinary delicacies provided by
families of four friends living in Sydney. Being a picture perfect
Sydney winters day, added to the enjoyment of the day.
Further activities were conduced in the month of July, being a dinner
following similar lines. On top of the funds raised, several individuals have made firm monetary
commitments for the cause, and completed the initial activity by
August 05, and remit the funds to Minnesota-Sri Lanka Friendship Foundation.
Plan to make this an ongoing activity, and contribute to the ongoing
sustenance of those who are settled into the Hikkaduwa community. |
